Making magic for Kat’s Magic Wheelchair

Scooby Do, where are you?

I was contacted by Magic Wheelchair to design and build a costume for a kiddo with Muscular Dystrophy. This project was in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Kat’s Mystery Machine – A Custom Magic Wheelchair Project

For the Magic Wheelchair nonprofit, we had the honor of designing and fabricating a one-of-a-kind wheelchair costume for a young girl named Kat. Inspired by the classic Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine van, this custom build transformed Kat’s powered wheelchair into her very own adventure vehicle.

Nicknamed “Kat’s Mystery Machine,” the design featured the recognizable shape of the beloved cartoon van, but with unique twists tailored to Kat’s personality and style. We reimagined the classic colors, added custom details, and incorporated playful design elements that made the finished piece truly hers.

This fully custom wheelchair costume not only captured the fun and nostalgia of Scooby-Doo but also celebrated Kat’s individuality. Built with lightweight, durable materials and hand-crafted scenic details, the project brought smiles to Kat, her family, and everyone who saw her roll into the spotlight.
